Reading this post will take you less then 10 minutes but will help you with the problems that may occur while you try to open your favourite farting movie.

This post contains all video players and decoders for your PC to be able to watch 95% of video clips you see on the internet ON WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS.

Rest of 5% are non standard videos or videos in special formats.
I will not give any support for those 5%.

Note that this text is only friendly suggestion.

1.PLAYERS

Best to use - recommended & must have

+1. BS Player

Use BS Player everyday because it has one of the easiest interfaces, and opens almost all kinds of video formats. It's also recommended for all users especially to those with slow and old PC's
(CPu speed under 1,2 GHZ ),

Player will auto-install all required codecs for program so you can also watch divx movies.
It has best support ever for subtitles.

file types for this player: *wmv, *mpeg, *mpg, *avi, *asf *divx , *dat, *m2v *mp4 and other

+2. VLC Player

Install this player as a "sister player" on the system.
In case you will have bitrate problem with the video, this might be alternate solution for you.
It has also streaming options supported.

Additional recommended players

+1.Windows Media Player 10 or 9, or built in version

The most stable, built-in media player ever made for windows operating system.

I don't recommend running Windows media player 11 on XP.11 is nice, but it's slow, and very heavy.
So - choose between 9 or 10.
On windows vista and windows7 use the version that you already have installed.

You can also watch 80% of clips with this player, but it's not so fast like recommended ones .

+2. Quick Time Player

Quick time player was released with a bunch of spams in it until 2007 year.
Finally they Launched Quick Time Player 7 with minimum of spams and also very stable.
It is Necesarry sometimes, because it comes with some important browsers plugins required on some webpages.
example (3gp streams, webcams....)

but you will survive without it

file types for this player: *mov *mpg *mpeg *3gp *mp4 and other

+ 3. Real Player

For Real Media Streaming, it brings few browser plugins.
Try to get proffesional edition which also comes with download video plugin.
file types for this player: *rm *ram *amr *flv and other

2.VIDEO AND AUDIO DECODERS

You need video and audio decoders too for watching MPEG 2 and DVD videos ON operating systems under Windows vista, like on windows xp.

On windows vista and Windows7 you already have mpeg2 decoder installed in windows media center!

Recommended For windows Xp users and advanced users

It's hard to find mpeg codecs separately, ussualy they come with applications such as DVD players.

if you have optimal or strong PC , at least 1200 mhz PENTIUM3, download and install Cyberlink Power DVD7 or newer

cyberlink = full picture quality + use more CPU resources.

With power dvd , you get High-Definition (HD) decoder, and Mpeg2 audio and video decoders.

Pure Nvidia Decoder is also suggested MPEG2 decoder.
Visit Nvidia Pure Video here:

For slower Pc's , there is solution with Elecard video decoder , but also picture quality is lower, and not good deinterlaced.

Installing big codec packs is not recommended.
