Kind of an interesting question if you think about it, because I dont know about you guys, but I judge a lot of people based on what kind of music they listen to. So what kind of music/artists do you guys (gals too) listen to??

I'll go first. I am mainly a metal guy. And not the generic mainstream crap you hear on the radio, though I find some of that stuff to be alright. Mainly I am an aggressive, angry, technical, screaming/growling metal kind of guy. Metalcore, death metal, black metal, progressive, hardcore, all that stuff. But I also enjoy some punk/ska, and even some top 40 stuff...like LMFAO is a guilty pleasure of mine. I cant stand dudes that act like that, but their songs are catchy as hell. Some rap I can get into, and techno/trance/house/dubstep are all favorites of mine. Pretty much the only things I can't get into are generic rock and country.

What about you guys?? What do you listen to at work, or when you're driving around or relaxing at home?? And that doesn't mean relaxing watching porn, haha.

I listen to alot of metal as well; atmospheric black metal (Agalloch & Wolves in the Throne Room)and folk metal (Ensiferum, Equilibrium, Finntroll, etc.) are the kinds that I usually gravitate towards but I also really like stuff like Devin Townsend and Opeth. I listen to some hip-hop, but it's mostly stuff like Odd Future and Childish Gambino. I'm definitely a sucker for some pop music like LMFAO, Lady Gaga, & Katy Perry when the mood hits me.

Umm R&B rap pop old music(soul maybe) the music like you hear on foxy 104.3 lol. I like artists like twista, common, jay z, j cole, redman and methodman, the group little brother but especially phonte, For singers it's like dwele, robin thicke, ryan Leslie,Christina aguilera sex for breakfast, missy Elliot etc. It's alot of different artists lol. I forgot dj quik and heavy d and ace hood for motivation.

For the most part I try to keep it smooth and mellow but it depends on my mood. I listen to alot of things people around me don't.

Most of my favorite music tends to be somewhat experimental. I'm not a fan of harsh noise or anything like that, but I tend to like music that breaks the typical pop song structure. This includes various subgenres of rock (progressive, punk, etc.), genres of electronic music (trip hop, downtempo, IDM, and a bunch of others I'm too lazy to list), certain types of hip hop, and even the occasional folk artist. Although there are also some less experimental pop and classic rock artists I do like as well.

If you've ever seen the movie High Fidelity, that's the kind of music I listen to. I listen to bands that were formed after that movie was released and I don't listen to every artist in the soundtrack, but it's the general kind of music I like. "Alternative" is what most people call it although I personally think that term is way too broad to describe anything.

in all seriousness though, i am probably the only person i know who thought the days of grays was a great album. listen to sonata arctica but very little other metal. honestly, the bastion soundtrack was also quite good and dark pheonix is good too. i've noticed that with most music, lyrics just tend to kill the music with the same generic crap. i.e. with dragonforce you're guaranteed to be going on an epic journey and rhapsody stuff tends to sound like a WoW narration which is still catchy until you realize it's cheapened by the genericness of it. also, i LOVE childish gambino (donald glover) but that's about as close to rap as i'll come (lyric reasons again).

For me it's post-hardcore and metalcore, bands like Woe is Me, Asking Alexandria, Of Mice and Men, The Devil Wears Prada. It ranges all the way to Eminem and other hip-hop/rap artists and mainstream top 40 stuff as well. Dubstep and Techno also get me going and pumped up sometimes lol.
